Roller Coasters, Reunions, and Wrapping Up Summer Break

Friday morning found us waking up bright and early to pick up my dad and head to good ole Santa Claus, Indiana and Holiday World. Nearly every summer we spend a day there with my younger cousins. Sadly enough, this trip was the first trip that I've actually felt old. My poor old body can't handle the roller coasters anymore. For those of you that haven't been, Holiday World has three wooden roller coasters (no metal ones) and those coasters beat my poor body to a pulp. Other than soreness the next day, we had a good time though. My cousins are at the age where they can ride, and ride, and ride and have a blast. It is always fun to be around them and feed off of their energy. We headed back a little earlier than them and stopped at Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

Sunday we went to Lake Santee near Greensburg for the annual Parmer family reunion. My grandparents bought a house on the lake a few years ago and everyone gathers there once a year. The weather was great and so was the fried chicken. I will have to say that the new recipe for strawberry pie I tried out to bring was quite good also. Jacob was also happy to get a little fishing time in on the paddleboat.

Today Jacob has been working on homework and I spent some the afternoon trying to get my classroom organized at school. I'm afraid my room looks like more of a mess than when I started. I guess is has to get worse before it can get better!

I'm so jealous that you are actually IN your room. School starts on Tuesday the 12.. and hopefully I'll get the clearing to go in there on Monday.. keep your fingers crossed! They could hold out until FRIDAY! My house is a disaster with teaching stuff everywhere... and I have no idea what to do!

It's good to hear you had a good time at Holiday World. Doug chuckled a little when I read what you had wrote. If we go, I hope his body can hold up...he's older than you! Have fun setting up your classroom.
