One Year Update
This big guy has grown and changed so much over the past month. I think he has undergone a major growth spurt. At his check-up at the doctor last week he was 20 lbs 15 oz and 28 inches tall and got four "big boy" shots. He has four teeth (two on top and two on bottom), and I think he's working on a few more. He has grown out of all his clothes. I guess we'll be back-to-school shopping for him too!

He is on the move all of the time and a professional at pulling himself up.
One of his favorite things is standing up in his crib and then falling down. He thinks it is hilarious!

He's been doing fantastic drinking from his cup. Now that we're transitioning him to cow's milk he drinks from a cup all day, and then has a bottle a little before bed. He thinks he's big stuff with his cup!

He loves hiding behind the curtains, sitting and spinning in circles, opening and closing cabinets and doors.

We're counting down our last few weeks of vacation and trying to get his readjusted to going to the babysitter's. We have a busier that normal few weeks ahead!

The Big 1!
Last Sunday Owen turned 1! We had a little party to celebrate the big day, and thank our families for all their support throughout the past year. Sorry I don't have many photos, I was mainly running around trying to make sure everyone had enough food and entertaining the birthday boy. I will share the few I have of the all important first taste of cake! (If you couldn't tell- he loved it!)

I'll get my twelve month post up soon! I promise!

Eleven Months!
Our big boy is eleven months old! My baby isn't such a little baby any more! He has had a busy month. As usual, here are the highlights:
**He's been spending tons of time in his baby pool. He loves that pool, he loves to splash, and most of all he loves to throw his toys out of the pool and see if he can get them back inside. He even gets excited if he sees it in the garage.

**He's our little pointer. He's learned that pointing gets you what you want, and is always pointing and oohing at something. He's really been into photos and he is always pointing at a photo he wants to see, or better yet pointing at the fridge. That boy could find a refrigerator magnet from a mile away!
**He is constantly making the ooh face and hooting like an owl. Maybe it's all of the owls he has in his room!
**When he isn't hooting is is saying dada, nana, or hana.
**He can play peek-a-boo with you, wave good-bye if you say "bye, bye", and tries to pull up on everything!
**He had his first experiences at the park and the zoo. He loved both. We weren't sure how much he would care about the zoo, but he loved it! He was especially into the sharks, dolphins, and giraffes, and monkeys. He would get excited and try to talk to them.

**He has learned that you can push things away that you don't want. He definitely has his own opinions about what food to eat, what books to read, and what toys he wants to play with.
**We have loved all of the extra time we have got to spend with him since school has been out!

10 Months
Owen Jacob, you are 10 months old! Who can believe it?! I can't believe we are already thinking about your first birthday! Unfortunately we've been so busy this month your mom and dad haven't taken too many pictures, but I promise we will get better in a few weeks when school is out and baseball is over. What have you been up to this month?

**You had your first professional photo shoot at our house. I love how the pictures turned out, I love that they are so natural, and that they really show your personality and the adorable boy we enjoy everyday.
**You still aren't crawling, but we are sure you will someday! Everyone just keeps telling us to enjoy not chasing you around while it lasts!

**I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day with you. You made the day wonderful, especially since the first thing I got was a huge hug from you!
**That's something you love to do-hug and kiss! I love it! I try to enjoy every hug and kiss, I'll remember them when you're 14 and can't stand your mother! You also wave good-bye. I love it when you wave to me when I drop you off at the sitters every morning. The people at church sitting behind us at church also love it when you wave to them during church!
**You are finally sleeping through the night consistently! Hallelujah! It makes me wonder how we went all of those months with so little sleep!
**You love to feed yourself. You are so proud that you can put food in your mouth by yourself!
**You are sooooo observant. You notice every little crumb, scratch, hair, drop of water. You are learning so fast. You will do things over and over and over if someone laughs or claps for you.

From Our Little Bunny to Yours...
Happy (belated) Easter! Owen had an eventful first Easter. The day started out on the wrong foot with a long night of congestion and little sleep, so our little bunny wasn't his usual perky self. But we made the most of the day anyway.

He got all dressed up for church.
After church we came home and did our own family photo session.
We went out to lunch with the Parmer family. My grandparents recently celebrated their 60th anniversary, so we all had lunch to celebrate. After we ate my parents came by to drop of the goodies the Easter Bunny left at their lunch. Among his gifts was a baby Cubs hat. Now he can match his Dad!

We spent some time enjoying the treats the Easter Bunny left for him. (He loved the basket the most.)

Our Eight Month Old
Time flies! Just a few short weeks ago we though Owen was so big at seven months...we can't wait to see what eight months has in store! This month was very eventful. Owen has decided to make the last week in particular jam packed with excitement. Some highlights:

**He has a tooth! His bottom left tooth finally poked through last Thursday. The gum on top of his other bottom from one is very bumpy. I'm thinking we'll probably see that one soon!
**Last Thursday he also developed a runny nose and cough. I chalked it up to the tooth to begin with, but after it gradually got worse all weekend, I decided it was time for a trip to the doctor on Monday. Good thing we went! The poor guy had an ear infection and broncholitis. He had to have an x-ray, is on two different antibiotics, and is using a nebulizer at least 4 times a day. Poor guy! Thankfully he has been very pleasant through the whole thing and is on the way to recovery!
**On the way home from the sitters Tuesday I heard him jabbering from the backseat. It continued all night. It was music to his father's ears...we are constantly hearing his new favorite sound, "dadadadada".
**He's not crawling yet but has really got into rolling to what he wants. He's been able to roll over for awhile, but wouldn't put a chain of them together to get anywhere. Now there's no stopping him!

**He's still loving the fruit. He's also had chicken, and we're finally back to eating veggies (if you mix them with fruit!). He's also tried the Baby Mum Mum crackers, but isn't too excited about them. He'd rather beat them on his high chair tray than eat them.

Seven Months
Baby Owen is seven months (and a few days) old! The last month seems to have flown by even faster than the last. I suppose that is what we are in for from now on. Here are the highlights from the past month:
**Some of his other favorite things include "playing" on the computer (or trying to get the little lights), jumping in his bouncer, and practicing sitting up.

**Fruits have emerged as his favorite foods. He loves pears, peaches, apples, blueberries, and prunes. He could eat them all day, in any combination. Unfortunately, you can hardly get a vegetable past him. Whoever said that your kids would eat vegetables better if you introduce them first hasn't met Owen.
**He had a great first Valentines Day. He sent valentines to his grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, and uncles. He even got some valentines from a few of the other kids at the babysitter's.
**He's really gotten into his tongue. He went through a phase for about a week, where he was making funny faces all of the time.
**He's getting to be a great sitter. He can sit by himself for a long time, but will still topple over if he leans too far.
**He still wants and grabs for everything. He's recently started holding his hands out and reaching for Jacob and me.
**Owen still loves going to the babysitter. He get so excited when we get there each morning. It is wonderful that he loves it so much!

Happy Half!
Half a year that is! Owen Jacob is six months old! Who can believe it?! The past month has been a month of many big events in this big guy's life. Here are a few of the highlights:
**I went back to work, and Owen spent his first two weeks at the sitters! I know I bragged on how well he did the first day, and the adjustment since then has been fantastic! He still loves to go! (I think he gets disappointed when we come home to our boring house.) I did better than I thought leaving him that first day. I got major butterflies in my stomach and thought about him all day, but I didn't cry! I was pleasantly shocked!
**He is eating solid foods on a regular schedule. He doesn't eat much at each meal (probably an ounce), but he does a great job of opening his mouth and keeping the food inside! He gets excited when he sees his bowls come out of the cabinet. He doesn't like it if we eat in front of him, he wants to be eating too! So far he's had rice cereal and oatmeal, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, and green beans. He's also had pears and bananas. He isn't a big fan of the cereal, oatmeal, or green foods, but if we mix them with some of his favorites he'll eat them.
**He is reaching out to grab everything in sight. Some of his favorite objects are the microwave, any glass you are drinking from, noses, mouths, the remote, and books and magazines.

**He loves his dad like crazy! Most weekends you can find the two sitting together playing the guitar. They usually start like this:

but end up like this:
**He has been a better sleeper since Christmas. We usually goes to bed about 7:30 and sleeps until 11ish. He eats and then usually sleeps until I wake him up at 6:30. Let's hope that continues to get better too. This momma needs her rest!
Until next time...
