Snow, Shmow

Enough snow already! Just when we thought we were through with the snow, another storm blew through this today and brought us 6-7 inches of snow! We missed three days of school plus a two hour delay last week, were closed again today, and I'm not to positive about tomorrow's prospects. Poor Jacob spent over an hour shoveling just the driveway, so here's hoping the snow stops soon!

But looking on the bright side, only a month till we escape cold and snowy Indiana for this...(I'll keep the destination a secret to keep you interested...more details to come later!)

Are You Ready for Some Football?!

At MES we've been in the playoff spirit for the past month. My class proudly won the door decorating contest this year (the pizza party my kids won was definitely the envy of the other kids). Our little Colts players are a little blurry, but were a blast to make! The kids especially loved picking out the number their little player would wear.

It's finally time to settle in, prepare our favorite game time snacks, and get ready to cheer for our beloved Colts. Here's hoping Peyton on the boys can pull off their second Super Bowl Victory!

SURPRISE!

Jacob had a lot to celebrate this weekend, so I decided he should celebrate in style. Of course I threw him a surprise party. How many people do you know finish their master's degree one week and then turn the big 3-0 the next week (today!)? I invited about 20 people over, ordered some yummy Qdoba catering, and we partied the night away, well at least for a few hours (my husband is old now, we go to bed early!). Sorry about the quality of the pictures to follow, I was a little busy trying to make sure everything was going smoothly and didn't do a fantastic camera job.

The Mexican buffet (what else do you order for a Spanish teacher?)

The Birthday/Graduation Boy

The Two Jake's (Jacob's Grandpa is the original Jacob)

I think everyone a great time. Jacob was genuinely surprised, it was hard keeping all of the planning a secret and getting him out of the house so we could get everything set up. He really deserved something special. Thanks to my sister, parents, and in-laws for helping out! He worked really hard through all of his master's classes (had a 4.0 GPA-I have to brag), and celebrated a very special birthday. I am so proud of him!

Baby Shively Update

Monday we had our 15 week check-up at the doctor, so I thought I'd give you a brief update before I forget and move on to the next task for this busy week!

I gained 1 pound over the past month (way better the 4 from the month before-thank you Christmas, New Years, and birthday). My blood pressure was good. And Baby Shively's heartrate was 157 (it was 160) last month. The doctor said everything looked good, scheduled us for a ultrasound at our next visit and give us the okay to plan a trip for Spring Break (one last hurrah-if you have any great warm weather suggestions, let me know!). I think we waited in the waiting room longer than the actual visit took, but it was wonderful to hear that little heartbeat again! Now we have to finally decide if we want to find out if it's a boy or girl next month.

We had a really busy, exciting weekend. I'm hoping to post info and pictures about that tomorrow, so stay tuned!
