Back to Reality

Oh, how I already miss vacation! We had a great time in sunny Cancun last week, and had a rude awakening when we came back to Indiana Friday it was so cold we could see our breath when we got off of the plane. Luckily, the weather here has warmed up a bit since then.

We had great weather in Mexico and spent our mornings at the pool and afternoons at the beach. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort, The Riu Caribe (and highly recommend it) and never left the hotel. It was so nice to just relax and not have a care in the world for a week!

Jacob spent most of his week in his lounge chair on the ledge of the pool,

or playing water polo or volleyball (Jacob's in the blue and white hat).

Finally, here's the closest I have to a belly shot (at 23 weeks). Enjoy!

In other news, I had a good check-up at the doctor today. I might slow down a bit eating, but that's really hard to do, especially after an all-you-can-eat vacation! Baby Shively has been moving around like crazy. You could barely hear his heartbeat today because he was moving around so much.

In other random news...Less than nine more weeks of school! Only six more weeks of master's classes. My cap and gown were delivered today. The countdown is officially on! We have a lot going on this week, hopefully I'll be a good blogger and keep you updated!

Spring Break at Last!

Spring Break is finally here, hooray! I just hope it doesn't fly by too quickly, which it seems to always do!

We're taking off tomorrow for our Spring Break/Babymoon getaway to that secret location I told you about a month ago (remember when we had inches and inches of snow on the ground!). I decided I'll keep it a secret until we can get back and I can share some pictures with you. Right now I plan on spending the week relaxing. No computer. No email. No cell phone. No discussion board for master's classes. Just relaxation. Ahhh!

In other exciting news, I definitely felt Baby Shively moving this week. I had been feeling little things for the past two or three weeks, but wasn't sure it was him until Friday morning when he woke me up with a big kick or something. I put my hand on the spot and felt it again, and then Jacob got to feel it too. So amazing! We're still working on baby names and all things baby, hopefully I'll get a brainstorm while I'm relaxing this week! Yesterday I went to Jacob's cousin Crystal's baby shower and got a better idea on what kinds of things we'll need, so hopefully I can get to work on more baby stuff soon.

And last but not least don't forget to cheer for those Butler Bulldogs in the Sweet 16 versus Syracuse on Thursday (I won't be able to watch from our vacation. Hint, hint!), but I'll be cheering anyway! Go Dawgs!

20 Weeks

We're halfway to Baby Shively! Hooray! The first half has flown by, I can't imagine how fast this last part will fly by, and as my mom says, "We get a prize at the end!" We had a doctor's appointment last week and our second trimester ultrasound. Jacob scanned some of the pictures into the computer. I'll save those until the end of the post. Keep reading to find out if Baby S. will be a boy or a girl.

Everything went great at the doctor, heart rate and measurements were great, and we both got a clean bill of health! I'm always relieved to get good news from the doctor. We've started looking for names, and I think we need to start baby furniture shopping soon. Baby-fever has definitely taken over our house. In the last week or two I have become really visibly pregnant. None of my pants fit, and my wardrobe choices are more limited each day. (If only I could wear sweatpants and sweatshirts to school everyday!) The kids at school noticed how big I was getting and are very excited. They all have their own votes on what the name should be, some more hilarious than others.
Sorry I don't have any belly pictures. I'm not sure how comfortable I am having pictures of my big stomach on the internet for all to see. A few weeks ago I went shopping for a swimsuit for spring break, and that was disturbing enough! Maybe you'll get some pictures after we go on vacation. Without further adieu...enjoy these first glimpses of Baby Boy Shively!
