So where have I been and what have a been up to for the last week and a half? I know you've been on pins and needles waiting to find out..just kidding. I'm not that full of myself! So here you go: a snapshot of my life for the past few days...
-School: going back after Spring Break is a bummer, but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Only 3o days left if you were wondering. Last week was interesting to say the least, let's just say one of my kiddos got hungry one afternoon, and decided to make another kid's arm a snack. Never had that happen before, and I hope it never happens again!
-Baseball: Is really in full swing. I went to my first game last week. Widowhood has set in Jacob has 4 games in 5 nights this week, as I write this, and he is still not home from tonight's game, but he loves coaching so it is worth it! Hopefully I'll get to the game tomorrow night.
-Prom: One of the perks (if that is what you want to call it) of having a high school teacher for a husband is chaperoning duties, and we got to chaperone the Prom Saturday night at Indiana Downs. On the bright side, it is a chance to dress up, go out, and we made some new friends in one of Jacob's fellow teachers Justin, and his girlfriend Ann (it isn't all that often we are blessed with co-workers our own age, and even better these great people didn't even talk about getting drunk and how much alcohol they could put away all night long!) Ann and I decided to wear real Prom dresses next year. How hilarious will that be!
On the negative side, how much teenage grinding can you watch (I'm not getting between them-gross!) and rap music can you listen to in one night? I tell you what, back in my day you didn't dance like that a high school dance. I guess I'm getting old!
**I apologize for not having pictures. We didn't take any pictures of us dressed up standing in front of our car like in the old days, but we jokingly did consider it!
-Bridal Shower: Yesterday, I was honored to be invited to Jacob's cousin's Crystal's bridal shower. My mother-in-law went together and she got some really nice gifts. It was a nice time, and I am excited for her wedding (and the other 6 we have to go to this summer and fall!)
-RIF meeting come and gone (I could go on and on on this topic but I'll keep it short): some of you know the financial situation of our school system and those of you in education know how devastating it is to be RIFed, and how unfair it is to new teachers. I was soooooo not looking forward getting a letter this year since we've been in tight financial times all year, but thankfully the school board decided not to RIF anyone this year. Yeah! I know I have job security next year!
-First Grade Teachers Conference: I spent today and will be going back tomorrow to the conference at Union Station in Indianapolis with the other two first grade teachers in my building. It is a blast to learn new things and get a break from the kiddos (Today I got a whole hour to eat my lunch!), but it is so hard to miss school. The planning takes so long for a sub, but it is worth it in the long run!
Hopefully you are still reading after all of that and aren't bored to tears. I'll try not to be such a blogging slacker and will update more often! Have a great Tuesday!

Thanks for the update...I've been checking your blog (and a few others) repeatedly in the last couple days looking for an update!
I'm so happy that you will still have your job next year. I'm sure it was very nerve racking waiting for the RIF decision.
Tell Jacob I'm cheering for his baseball team! I hope they have a good season.
I'm disappointed that there wasn't a picture from the prom. Did Jacob get you flowers...like the old days?
Have a great week!
Chris and I usually chaperone the prom but we opted out this year. Baseball double header the morning of, so it doesn't really work. We did manage to chaperone the Sweetheart Dance in February though, which was surreal. And it made me feel old.
