Still Here...and still unpacking

Actually the unpacking is almost complete. Yeah! We finally got up the energy and tackled all of the extra bedrooms today (we haven't had much energy after school and master's work is complete during the week). It had been a busy first few weeks. The first weekend was spent moving all of the things from my parents in, putting the kitchen together, and we underwent a massive cleaning operation.

Last weekend the blinds we ordered finally arrived so my dad helped us hang them. We went shopping for some household necessities, and epoxied the garage floor. It looks really nice, I can't wait to get to park my car on it (it had to dry for a week)!

This week we had an interesting experience when we turned on the furnace for the first time. apparently the people who put it in didn't totally clean it out, so when we turned it on all of the dust got forced through, creating a burning smell (no fire-thank goodness!), and set off all 7 off our smoke detectors. How scary-especially since I was home alone! Thankfully Jacob and Jay got it cleaned out, and we have heat (without the annoying beeping) now!

Today we worked on the bedrooms and bought a water softener. Jacob is planning to install it tomorrow. Hopefully that process goes smoothly. We are learning all sorts of things about being homeowners!

I'm happy to hear you are making progress on the unpacking. We still have a few boxes that were never unpacked when we moved 2 1/2 years ago!!!

Best of luck with the water softner installation, and yes, the joys of and learning with home ownership never end.

OH yay!! :) Isn't moving a blast! I must admit, I still haven't completely moved out of Mom & Dads. They said once you move out, you can't come back... so I've only moved the necessities!! (Hey, I always said I was gonna have 13 kids and 100 + cats and move home.. I gotta reserve my space!) :) Happy unpacking!

The first time Chris turned on our fireplace, he forgot to open up the vent - and all of our fire alarms went off too! Not much fun... but I'm glad you're getting all settled in.
